Kyle Mayhon Success Story

Kyle Mayhon wanted to achieve self-sufficiency. Originally from Detroit, Kyle had limited work experience, support and lacked a high school diploma. She eventually found herself facing homelessness at Arlington Life Shelter, where she met with Goodwill staff. Kyle enrolled in Goodwill North Central Texas’ Opportunity Accelerator program, which provides individuals with job placement services and digital skills training so that they may find meaningful employment.

Kyle worked alongside a Job Placement Specialist who walked her through a list of potential employers and helped her apply. She was hired as a retail team member at Goodwill’s Lamar store in Arlington. To help her get started, Kyle was given a clothing voucher so that she could assemble her uniform. After working at the store for six months she was able to find housing, and as of September 2023 she began pursuing a career in education with Arlington ISD. Kyle credits her time at Goodwill as the catalyst for positive change. “I am truly grateful for the help of Goodwill, their Workforce Development Department and their staff, she said. “Without them, I am certain I would still be living in a homeless shelter, unsure of what my future would be.”
