It’s that time of year, where non-morning people like myself have a hard time getting up on time. Although we get longer days, daylight savings is (in my opinion) the ‘Monday’ of time changes. Sometimes the effect of a new routine lingers throughout the rest of the week, and it’s something you need to fight back FAST! To defeat the impulse to hit the snooze button more than once, here are some of our favorite tips on how to make waking up less stressful with a little help from Goodwill.
Setting A New Tone:
- Often, I become desensitized to my morning alarm, so every couple of months I change using my phone to setting a traditional alarm clock to make my wake up process so much easier. You can check in store to find an alarm clock that suits you the best!

Tune the World Out at Night:
- With daylight savings, I tend to go to bed a lot earlier to ensure that I’m getting 6-8 hours of sleep. Turning off your phone, listening to music or reading a book can decrease your heart rate, thus, preparing your mind and body to sleep. To test this method, I picked up a couple of books from our online bookstore to adjust to the new time change and get back on track.
With these tips, waking up in the morning will be a breeze! Especially since our March Sale Day is currently underway. Today only (March 17, 2017) take an additional 50% off all merchandise in the store (excluding the Outlet)! And remember, shopping or donating at Goodwill always supports our mission of changing lives through the power of work.
