National Thrift Shop Day

This Monday, August 17th, is National Thrift Shop Day! To celebrate we’re sharing some of our favorite Goodwill stories, made possible by donations and thrifters like you!

How does Goodwill work?

When you shop with Goodwill North Central Texas, 90 cents from every dollar goes to fund our mission services. This video from Goodwill Industries International breaks it down in less than one minute.

Who does Goodwill help?

Goodwill’s mission is to provide job training and placement services to people with barriers to employment, including people with disabilities, veterans, the homeless, the formerly incarcerated and at-risk youth. Many of our team members were once program participants!

How many people has Goodwill helped?

In its first year of operation (1949), Goodwill North Central Texas served 53 individuals. That number increases each year, so much so that in 2019 alone, 9,355 individuals received 69,503+ services through 23 unique programs. Without donors and shoppers like you, we wouldn’t have been able to change the lives of so many individuals in need, so happy thrifting!
