Roderick Sounder had been steadily employed as a warehouseman for five years and was ready to take his skills to the next level. After health concerns took him out of work, Roderick was referred to Goodwill’s VetWorthy program, which provides veterans and their dependents access to job placement services, training, access to community resources and more.
Roderick was accepted into VetWorthy in August 2021 and received a scholarship that helped place him into the North Texas Institute for Career Development’s Professional Truck Driver training program. He excelled in his studies and completed the course in November. Despite his new license, Roderick’s employer declined his promotion due to a lack of experience.
With help from Goodwill staff he began searching for greater employment opportunities. Roderick’s decision to take his career path into his own hands helped him secure a job at Tulco as a Professional Truck Driver. He is happy in his new position and looks forward to his future opportunities.
