Cody Tovar began his journey at Goodwill as a teenage volunteer. He knew the Goodwill could give him the tools he needed to pursue a career in Information Technology. He started working as a technician with the company’s Computer Works program, which sold electronic devices and offered computer repair services, eventually transferring to their E-Commerce department. There he listed items to the online sales platform, ShopGoodwill, before joining the Goodwill’s IT Department.
While employed at Goodwill, Cody enrolled in the North Texas Institute for Career Development’s COMP TIA: A+ certification course. The North Texas Institute for Career Development (NTI) is the technical and career school operated by Goodwill North Central Texas offering CDL Professional Truck Driver Training, Certificate of Forklift Instruction, and virtual certifications in the medical and IT fields. Through the IT certification course students earn national certifications that qualify them for career opportunities in desktop support, computer repair, helpdesk, user support and network support.
Cody is an invaluable member of the Goodwill Family, providing support to the organization’s retail stores, administration and workforce teams. He takes an extreme amount of joy serving others, and the growth he has gained at Goodwill enables him to provide for his family. Cody’s continued drive to improve himself serves as an inspiration to his coworkers and children. This is his story.
