At Goodwill North Central Texas, we believe in creating opportunities for all. Our S.T.A.R.S. program (Skills Training Achieves Results) empowers individuals with intellectual and physical disabilities by providing a safe, engaging and skill-building environment that fosters independence.
Learning Through Real-Life Scenarios
Participants rotate through spaces like an apartment, general store, art studio, and more, gaining essential daily living and social skills in a fun and interactive way.
Hands-On Work Experience
Through partnerships with Goodwill retail stores, S.T.A.R.S. participants receive pre-vocational training in real-world settings, building confidence and readiness for future employment.
Community Outings
Weekly trips allow participants to practice their skills in public settings, from dining out to museum visits, helping them grow their independence and community connections.
The Need for More Space and Your Support
Due to overwhelming demand, our current S.T.A.R.S. facilities in Fort Worth and Grapevine have been operating at full capacity for years. Too many individuals and families are still waiting for access to the critical services they need and deserve.
To meet this growing need, Goodwill North Central Texas has launched a capital campaign to open a new 16,000-square-foot S.T.A.R.S. location in Northeast Tarrant County. This facility would allow us to serve more individuals with disabilities, reduce waitlists and create 11 new jobs for those passionate about this work.
As a self-funded nonprofit, we rely on our community to help make this vision a reality. Your donations – whether through monetary gifts or gently used items – support this vital expansion and help ensure every person has the opportunity to thrive.
This June, as we celebrate the impact of inclusive programs like S.T.A.R.S., we invite you to join us in building a brighter, more accessible future for all.
