Gregory Thompson, a Fort Worth native, knew he wanted more than a low-wage job with limited opportunities for growth. Determined to build a stable career and a stronger future, he enrolled in the Professional Truck Driver Training/CDL program at the North Texas Institute for Career Development on September 15, 2025.
From the very beginning, Gregory stood out. He was often the first to arrive and the last to leave, fully committed to learning every aspect of the program. He asked thoughtful questions, supported his classmates, and quickly became a natural leader in the classroom.
What made Gregory’s journey even more inspiring was his commitment to serving others outside of training. While balancing the demands of the CDL program, he regularly donated food, clothing, and shoes to the Funky Town Fridge in Fort Worth. His generosity and positive attitude carried into the classroom, where he constantly encouraged those around him and offered help whenever it was needed.
On November 14, 2025, Gregory graduated from the program and officially earned his Commercial Driver’s License. In just two months, he went from being underemployed without commercial credentials to becoming a licensed CDL driver prepared to enter a high-demand industry.
Even after graduation, Gregory continues giving back to his community, traveling across multiple towns to help keep the Funky Town Fridge stocked for those in need.
“God blessed me with this opportunity, and I plan to keep using it to bless others,” Gregory shared.
Gregory’s story is a powerful reminder that success is not only measured by career growth, but also by the impact we make on others along the way. Through hard work, determination, and a heart for service, he is building a future as strong as his character.
