Cyndi Chaney

In 2018 Cyndi Chaney thought she had hit rock bottom. She was alone, struggling with alcoholism, addiction and grief after her father passed away. After surviving an attempt on her own life, she contacted her mother and entered a second chance shelter with Salvation Army. Cyndi’s time at Salvation Army gave her the consistency and accountability she needed to find a job, leading her to Goodwill. She enrolled in the Goodwill Works program, which specializes in connecting individuals experiencing homelessness with job training and placement opportunities as well as community resources.

Today, Cyndi is celebrating eight years of sobriety, seven of which she has spent with Goodwill, serving as a Facility Technician at the organization’s Campus Drive location. Cyndi is a beloved member of the Janitorial team and is recognized by individuals across the facility for her cheerful personality and work ethic. Goodwill’s holistic approach to service and her determination are proof that transformation is possible. This is her story.
