Building Brighter Futures on World Youth Skills Day

Every young person deserves the opportunity to build a successful future. That’s why World Youth Skills Day, observed annually on July 15, highlights the importance of education, training and workforce development for the next generation.

At Goodwill North Central Texas, helping young people gain the skills they need to succeed is a key part of our mission.

Creating Opportunities Through Education
For some students, the traditional classroom setting isn’t the right fit. Life circumstances, family responsibilities, or personal challenges can make completing high school difficult.

Through programs like Education & Employment (E2), Goodwill helps young adults earn their high school equivalency diploma while gaining valuable workforce experience.

Participants receive:

  • GED preparation and testing support
  • Paid work experience
  • Career exploration opportunities
  • Individualized coaching and mentorship
  • Connections to post-secondary education and training

More Than a Diploma
Earning a GED is often just the beginning.

Many graduates continue on to college, vocational training, or careers in high-demand industries. Along the way, they gain confidence, independence and a clearer vision for their future.

Investing in the Future
When young people have access to education and workforce training, entire communities benefit. This World Youth Skills Day, we celebrate the determination of the young adults we serve and the supporters who help make these opportunities possible.

Together, we’re helping build brighter futures, one student at a time.
