Cathy Daniels had been out of the workforce for some time when she decided to enter the Digital Career Accelerator® program (DCA) at Goodwill North Central Texas. Her goal was to brush up on digital skills to prepare herself for additional certifications and to improve her job prospects. Through the program, Daniels learned Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint basics she could utilize in her job search and future classes. Daniels was able to complete the DCA program in just one month and grew her confidence in the basic computer skills she needed to move forward.
While in the DCA program, Daniels received a free computer through Goodwill’s partnership with Indeed and PCs 4 People. She is now able to practice her digital skills at home, and will be ready for remote work, which the ultimate goal she is working toward.
The next step on Daniels’ journey is to complete the Goodwill Leadership Academy’s Certified Administrative Professional with Microsoft Office Specialist program. Then, Daniels hopes to attend the medical billing and coding certification program through Goodwill’s North Texas Institute for Career Development.
