Shop or Donate to Give Items and People in Your Community New Lives
August 17th is National Thrift Shop Day—a day to celebrate the joy of finding unique, affordable vintage treasures. This year, we’re spotlighting sustainability. Our stores extend the life of usable items by collecting and selling donated goods. The revenue from these sales is reinvested in the community through our employment and job training programs.
Goodwill has been a pioneer in reuse for over 120 years, striving to sell, repurpose or recycle donations locally through various retail channels. With more than 3,300 retail stores, outlet stores and an ecommerce platform, we keep donated goods in circulation. Last year alone, Goodwill diverted 4.3 billion pounds of used goods from landfills, giving them a second life.
Our mission at Goodwill North Central Texas is to empower individuals through training, education, and employment. Our Job Resource Centers offer convenient access to tools, technology, training, and support for those seeking work in various industries. Learn more about our mission services here.
Every day, Goodwill helps nearly 400 people find meaningful employment. In 2023, we helped over 1.7 million people access employment and support services, with more than 141,000 securing jobs within Goodwill or with other employers.
