Celeste came to Goodwill in April 2022 as a single mom of three looking for new work opportunities. Through the Opportunity Accelerator Program, Celeste transitioned from a domestic abuse survivor with severe underemployment, to an independent mother supporting her growing family.
Celeste completed job readiness training through Goodwill’s partnership with Indeed. She also enhanced her resume with the assistance of an employment specialist. But, soon after her enrollment in OA, it became apparent to the Goodwill staff that she would be a perfect fit as an Intake Specialist for Goodwill’s own Denton Job Resource Center. She went on to train at the Goodwill headquarters in Fort Worth, and flourished in the social environment. Due to a fire at the Goodwill Denton store, she continued to commute back and forth from Denton becoming a vital asset for the Fort Worth intake team. Four months later, Celeste’s hard work and dedication has made her an important asset for Goodwill’s Denton clients.
In May, Celeste was encouraged to apply for another Indeed-sponsored program: PCs for People. After submission and approval of her eligibility documents, Celeste received a free computer and hotspot with one year of free internet access to use at home! When asked what Goodwill means to her, Celeste stated, “I get to help my clients create their own success stories through Goodwill.”
Today, Celeste has successfully graduated from job placement services after more than 90 days working within the company. She is excited about her little one who is due in December—expanding our Goodwill family by two more little feet.
