Gary Clark, an army veteran stationed at Fort Hood, left the military in 1976 but struggled adjusting to civilian life. In 2020 he decided to break the cycle of incarceration he was experiencing and make a change. Through Workforce Solutions for Tarrant County, he learned about Goodwill North Central Texas’ veteran and re-entry programs and enrolled in the organization’s North Texas Institute for Career Development CDL training program.
Health issues slowed his efforts to earn his CDL license, but Gary persisted in hopes of gaining employment at GLH Delivery Services. After nine months, he completed program and earned his CDL license in April 2023. Unfortunately, due to the extended time it took to finish the program, the position at GLH had already been filled.
Once again, Gary pushed forward, working with Goodwill staff to find a career with Success Cargo. Gary impressed the contractors with his determination and perseverance and has been employed with the company since. He is living proof that it is never too late to pursue your dreams.
