On Monday, November 7th, Goodwill North Central Texas hosted its 15th annual golf tournament, the Goodwill Classic. Billed as a “Tournament of Excellence,” this fundraiser supports Goodwill North Central Texas’ mission to create lives of independence and build a stronger local community through its job training and placement programs.
The event featured a star-studded lineup of golfers, including former Texas Rangers greats Rafael Palmeiro, José Guzmán, Doyle Alexander, Dave Hostetler, as well as other former MLB players including Larry Hardy and TV personality and Blazing Saddles star Burton Gilliam.
Players were treated to a bagpipe rendition of the National Anthem during the opening ceremony. Throughout the day golfers enjoyed gifts, root beer floats and cheers from Goodwill’s S.T.A.R.S. participants as a thank you for their support.

This year’s tournament also featured a twist- two teams would be paired together, and their combined score would be used to calculate the 2022 champions. This year’s winning teams were members of Frost Bank and US Power Management.

The 2022 Goodwill Classic raised more than $141,000 for the cause. All proceeds from the tournament support Goodwill mission services focusing on people experiencing homeless (GoodwillWorks), at-risk youth (E-Squared), our veterans (VetWorthy), people with disadvantages and people with disabilities (S.T.A.R.S.).
