Goodwill North Central Texas Celebrates 70 Years of Service to Local Community

WHAT:
Goodwill North Central Texas will host a 70th anniversary celebration of the organizations founding as the 100th Goodwill in the country, and offer tours and an open house of the agency’s headquarters location. The anniversary celebration event will feature remarks from local officials, as well as an open house.

Since 1949, Goodwill North Central Texas has grown from its modest roots at 665 South Main with four employees to one of the largest nonprofit organizations in North Texas, employing nearly 1,000 and serving ten times that many each year. Nationally-recognized job training and placement programs continue to help countless thousands experience the “power of work” in transforming lives of dependence into lives of independence.

In 2018 alone, Goodwill North Central Texas touched the lives of 10,372 individuals with disabilities or other barriers to employment through job training and placement services including those tailored for the homeless, the formerly incarcerated, veterans, at-risk youth and those with lack of education or work experience.
