Isaac Morehouse’s journey with Goodwill North Central Texas began on August 9, 2023, when he visited the Fort Worth Job Resource Center in search of help securing employment. He was unemployed and staying with family, and he knew he needed additional support to find a job. Following a conversation with an Goodwill Intake Specialist, Isaac made the decision to enroll in the Opportunity Accelerator program.
Taking the first steps toward his career goals, Isaac met with an Employment Specialist who played a pivotal role in refining his resume on Indeed.com and providing comprehensive job readiness training. Armed with newfound skills and confidence, Isaac was then assigned to a Job Placement Specialist. This dedicated professional assisted him in researching potential job opportunities and navigating the application process.
Despite encountering initial challenges due to his criminal background, Isaac remained undeterred in his job search. The turning point came on August 30th during a Goodwill job fair. Isaac met with Goodwill’s Human Resources staff and underwent an interview with the Transportation team. He completed the required employment screenings and was offered a job on-the-spot.
On September 5th, less than a month after stepping into the Goodwill Job Resource Center, Isaac officially joined the Goodwill team as a full-time Warehouse Team Member. Recognizing the challenges Isaac faced, his Job Placement Specialist provided him with bus passes to ensure a smooth transition during the initial weeks of his employment.
Isaac’s dedication and hard work paid off, and by the beginning of December, he successfully completed his first 90 days at Goodwill. His experience demonstrates the impact of Goodwill North Central Texas, underscoring the tangible outcomes made possible through the Opportunity Accelerator program.
