Sherrill Marshall needed something to believe in. Coming out of an abusive marriage, struggling became her sense of normal and she turned to alcohol and prescription drugs to cope. During a six-month sentence in prison, she realized things needed to change.
After her release Sherill found community resources that pointed her towards Goodwill. She started as a transitional employee and was quickly hired onto the Donated Goods & Retail team. Today she serves as the Manager of Attended Donation Centers, which help supply the donations Goodwill stores use to generate funds that create lives of independence. Throughout her time at Goodwill, Sherril has made it her mission to uplift team members and share her story.
Outside of her work at Goodwill Sherrill serves others, including those experiencing homelessness, through her church and local recovery groups. Her goal is to one day open a sober-living home in honor of her late son, Justin. Sherrill has taken the hope that Goodwill gave her and is sharing it every day with the people she meets.
