Sidney always knew he wanted to work in the IT industry but did not know the correct path to take. When the pandemic impacted the online car company he was working for, Sidney’s hours were drastically cut. After seeing an advertisement for Information Technology training through the North Texas Institute for Career Development (NTI), Sidney knew that this was the pathway to allow his passion to become his occupation.
Sidney enrolled into the program where it quickly became apparent to Goodwill staff that he was destined to obtain his goals and become more than a passing student.
Sidney completed the CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Network+ courses online with assistance from NTI Trainers. He went on to pass his national certifications with flying colors and incorporated them into a resume using Goodwill’s partner platform Indeed. He was then offered a position at Goodwill as a Caseworthy Data Input System Specialist. Nine months later, Sidney’s hard work and dedication earned him a promotion to an IT specialist!
When asked what Goodwill and NTI mean to him, Sidney stated, “I’ve been offered the ability to have a better life.” He enjoys meeting the responsibilities of paying his own bills and being independent. He even purchased a new truck! “My advice to anyone questioning if they should make a life change: Do it! You will never know if you don’t take the chance!”
