February 12th is Abraham Lincoln’s birthday, and although pennies were first used in the United States in 1787, Lincoln’s face wasn’t included on the coin until 1959! These days most people prefer not to carry the copper coin, but at Goodwill your pennies help change lives.
When shopping at Goodwill, you may be asked to round-up your total to the nearest dollar. That change might not seem like a lot, but it definitely adds up! In 2020, thrifters raised $295,980 across our 25 retail locations through our change for change program. These funds support our mission to provide jobs and job training to people with barriers to employment. To see that mission in effect, check out our 2020 Thank You Goodwill video featuring Charlie Rutherford!
