Goodwill® offers training and employment placement for individuals impacted by the justice system
April is Second Chance Month, an observance that highlights the challenges and opportunities involving individuals who have been impacted by the justice system. Goodwill North Central Texas is committed to helping those individuals enter the workforce and learn new skills to better position themselves for future employment. Second Chance Month is hosted by the National Reentry Resource Center (NRRC), which was established by the Second Chance Act and works to improve outcomes for people experiencing justice involvement nationwide.
For those who have been impacted by the justice system, there are many barriers to successful re-entry to public life, including drug dependency, serious illness, debt and limited work options. Just getting a second chance may seem almost impossible at times. Goodwill North Central Texas offers services to men, women and youth who are trying to get back on track after experiencing justice involvement.
“Goodwill North Central Texas is dedicated to improving educational and employment opportunities across our service area. One way we are doing this is by providing training and services to individuals re-entering society after incarceration,” said Romney Guy, Vice President of Workforce Development. “ReLaunch is designed to reduce recidivism and provide a pathway towards success to help our community members thrive.”
Through various partnerships, including those with Coursera, Google, Microsoft, Meta (formerly Facebook) and others, Goodwill is uniquely positioned to offer digital skills training for everything from basic skills to coding. In addition, Goodwill makes it possible for participants to earn online career certificates for new career paths in information technology, the medical field and more.
