Go Through Your Stuff with Goodwill

Spring is a great time for a fresh start. That’s why so many people take part in spring cleaning. Spring is also an excellent time to give people a fresh start — and that’s what Goodwill® is all about.

This year, when you finish your spring cleaning and you’re looking for a place to donate items you no longer need, please consider Goodwill. Goodwill is a leading nonprofit workforce provider in North America, selling donated items to create job training and placement opportunities for people in our local community.

To make it easy to remember this spring, Goodwill teamed up with downsizing and decluttering expert Matt Paxton to remind people to follow the Paxton-approved “Three Ds” when tackling their spring cleaning this year: Declutter, Donate and Make a Difference.

Declutter: Take it one room at a time. Before throwing away any clothes or functioning household items, consider whether those items can be donated to a local Goodwill.

Donate: After taking inventory of bedrooms, storage closets, the attic or basement, and even your trunk, take any unused items to your local Goodwill so you can give someone else a fresh start.

Make a Difference: Last year, Goodwill organizations received more than 107 million donations throughout the U.S. and Canada. 90% of Goodwill North Central Texas’s revenue from the sale of donated goods supports and grows our local community-based programs and services, such as digital skills training, credentials and certifications, transportation, mentoring and more.

If you need help deciding what stays, and what goes, check out this handy chart:

Complete the chart 15 times and then treat yourself. Remember, every item you donate goes toward helping others gain new skills and find a job they love. There is no better time than now. Donate today.
