How Goodwill Empowers People with Disabilities Every Day

At Goodwill North Central Texas, our mission goes beyond retail, it’s about empowering people to build lives of independence. One of our most impactful initiatives is the S.T.A.R.S. program (Skills Training Achieves Results), which provides a safe, inclusive day program for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Participants in S.T.A.R.S. build daily life skills, engage in enriching activities and explore paths to greater independence. From cooking classes to community outings, the program offers structure, growth, and purpose, often becoming a second home for those we serve.

But our current facilities have reached capacity. Dozens of adults in Northeast Tarrant County are left without access to the vital support they need. The demand is clear, and so is the solution: we must expand.

We’ve launched a capital campaign to fund a new, 16,000-square-foot facility that will allow us to:

  • Serve more individuals waiting for support
  • Create 11 new jobs for staff passionate about working with people with disabilities
  • Offer expanded programming in a modern, accessible environment

To make this vision a reality, we’re calling on our community to help us raise $500,000. As a self-funded nonprofit, Goodwill depends on donations, shopping and sponsorships to fuel our mission.

By supporting this campaign, you’re not just helping us build a building, you’re helping build a future where more people with disabilities can thrive, contribute and live with dignity.

Every dollar makes a difference. Every share spreads the word. Every act of support brings us one step closer to expanding the opportunity that everyone deserves.
