Kerry James is proof that a focused mind can create new paths forward. While attempting to help a family stranded on the highway Kerry was struck by a drunk driver, resulting in the loss of his legs. With help from friends, family and neighbors Kerry began the long process of accepting his new life, determined to pass on the kindness he experienced.
In 2003, Kerry faced another life-changing event. A car accident left him with a broken back and lost feeling in his lower extremities. For six months he was bedridden, physically unsure of where he would land but mentally prepared to move forward once again. Goodwill would become a key part of Kerry’s support system. 
Goodwill was founded with the promise of breaking barriers for individuals with disabilities and that purpose lives on today. Kerry is a valuable member of Goodwill North Central Texas’ Centralized Processing department, where his determination to help others shines. His focus makes him a team leader, a supportive father and so much more. This is his story.
