Angelica Jimenez faced immense pressure in her life. Being a single mother meant putting her education and personal needs on hold to provide for her family. Her job as district manager for an insurance company brought her additional stress. She managed three locations which proved difficult at a company with a toxic work environment, and in 2023 she suffered a stress-induced stroke. This event made Angelica realize that she needed a change.
Inspired by her time in the hospital and the care she received, Angelica decided that she would give back by pursuing a medical front office assistant certification with the North Texas Institute for Career Development (NTI). NTI offers virtual certification opportunities for both medical front office assistant and medical billing & coding for those interested in the field, which has faced severe staffing shortages due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Recognizing this, Angelica worked diligently to complete her course work and found employment with Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Fort Worth.
Angelica is grateful for the opportunity to help others and be part of a team that values her efforts. “Furthering my education has helped open the door into the medical field,” she said. “I see how many options there are and the need for help in this industry. I would never have found this opportunity if it wasn’t for the help I received from Goodwill and the amazing staff. Thank you all!”
